ABOUT JEREMY

Jeremy Schiftan is an Award winning Australian drummer, composer, manager and music educator based in Melbourne, Victoria. Graduating from Victorian College of the Arts (VCA) in 2015 with a Bachelor of Contemporary Music, Jeremy has 15 years experience performing in bands, managing independent projects, working as a session musician, running workshops, recording, producing records and composing new music.

His main passion is Reggae and its neighbouring genres such as Dub and Hip Hop. In 2011 Jeremy founded 9-Piece Reggae band Echo Drama to solidify his work as a composer and drummer in these styles. In addition to the musical direction of the group, Jeremy works as the manager and booking agent having successfully secured the band as a regular fixture in the live and festival circuit with performance highlights such as WOMADelaide (SA), Island Vibe (QLD), NYE On The Hill, St Kilda Festival and Rainbow Serpent as well as supporting international artists including The Skatalites (Jamaica), Maxi Priest (UK) and Easy Star All Stars (USA). Following the release of their nationally acclaimed debut album in 2019, Echo Drama won the Music Victoria Award for best Reggae and Dancehall act.

Another notable project in Jeremy's career was as drummer and manager for Melbourne Rapper “Sinks”. Jeremy worked with Sinks to earn coveted support slots with acts such as Coolio (USA), Mobb Deep (USA), Deltron 3030 (USA), Souls Of Mischief (USA) and Taskforce (UK). Jeremy also performed drums and co-produced a single with Sinks in 2014 “Fraudulence” which was nominated for the Triple J Hottest 100.

When Jeremy is not managing and performing in his own projects, he is an active member of the Australian music scene as a session drummer, booking agent, adviser and collaborator having worked with many respected acts including Thando, Black Jesus Experience, Kylie Auldist, Ras Jahknow, Mike Waters, Aaradnha (NZ) and Herb Armstrong (USA) to highlight just a few. His ongoing commitment to providing professional and reliable services on stage and in studios continues to attract glowing reviews from his peers.
