ABOUT JEREMY
Jeremy Schiftan is an award-winning Melbourne-based drummer, composer, and music educator with almost 20 years’ experience across performance, recording, and creative project work. He holds a Bachelor of Contemporary Music from the Victorian College of the Arts and has built a wide-ranging career within the Australian music scene as a performer, collaborator, and organiser.
As a musician, Jeremy has worked across styles including reggae, dub, hip hop, funk, soul, jazz, rock, indie, pop, blues, country, folk, disco, latin, grunge, and progressive rock. He has performed extensively as both a bandleader and session drummer around Australia, with a career shaped by live performance, studio work, and long-term collaboration with artists, producers, engineers and event managers.
Jeremy founded and managed the nine-piece reggae group Echo Drama, overseeing everything from musical direction to touring, bookings, and releases. The band became a regular fixture on the Australian festival circuit and, in 2019, won the Music Victoria Award for Best Reggae and Dancehall Act. He has also worked as drummer and manager for Melbourne rapper Sinks, securing national and international support slots and co-producing a single nominated for Triple J’s Hottest 100.
Alongside performing, Jeremy has spent many years organising gigs, tours, and recording projects, working closely with artists, producers, and engineers to bring music from idea to finished release or live show. He is also a qualified and registered counsellor, a background that supports his love for connecting with others. Whether on stage, in the studio, sharing knowledge or behind the scenes, Jeremy brings experience, energy, and a genuine love of music to everything he does.
“One good thing about music, when it hits you, you feel no pain.”
