GUITAR LESSONS
Jeremy offers personalised guitar lessons for children, teenagers and adults, tailored to each student's interests, goals and experience. Whether you're picking up the guitar for the first time, returning after a break, or looking to build your confidence and musical skills, lessons provide an encouraging environment in which to develop your playing.
Jeremy has over 12 years' experience as a private music teacher and holds a Bachelor of Contemporary Music from the Victorian College of the Arts. Alongside his private teaching, Jeremy works in secondary school settings, teaching individual and group lessons and running ensembles. With a career as a performing and recording musician spanning almost 20 years, he brings practical musical experience into every lesson, helping students develop strong foundations while learning music they genuinely enjoy.
Lessons are tailored to the individual and can be as relaxed or structured as each student needs, whether learning purely for enjoyment or working towards specific musical outcomes. Students can learn through songs they enjoy while developing solid technique, rhythm and musicality, alongside chord playing, strumming, fingerstyle techniques, reading notation, music theory, songwriting and general musicianship. Beginner bass guitar lessons are also available for students interested in learning bass.
Whether your goal is to play your favourite songs, accompany yourself while singing, prepare for school music, or simply enjoy learning a new instrument, lessons are adapted to suit your individual interests and pace.

Definitely! I regularly teach complete beginners on drums, guitar and music theory. Lessons focus on building strong foundations, confidence and enjoyment from the very start.
-
Drum students are encouraged to have access to a basic practice setup at home. Guitar students will need their own instrument. I’m happy to advise on suitable beginner equipment.

For primary school–aged students, I usually recommend 30-minute lessons, or 45 minutes for students with particularly good focus.
For secondary students and adults, 45 or 60 minutes both work well. In 45 minutes we can get plenty done, while 60 minutes gives us more space to go deeper if you have the time. -
Student safety and wellbeing are very important to me. I hold a current Working With Children Check and complete ongoing professional development in child safety standards as part of my work within a Victorian government school setting.
In addition to my work as a music educator, I am also a qualified counsellor registered with the Australian Counselling Association (ACA), and I work within clear ethical, professional and safety guidelines. Lessons are conducted in a respectful, supportive and age-appropriate manner at all times.

TESTIMONIALS
“My son has been taught by Jeremy for a few years now. The progress he's made has been incredible and he absolutely loves attending his guitar lessons. Jeremy is a patient, supportive and knowledgeable guitar teacher. We’ve been so happy with the experience and highly recommend him to anyone looking for a great music teacher!” - Emily V
“I’ve been learning the guitar with Jeremy for a year and a half. He is a great teacher who explains things really easily and clearly. He also makes it fun. I really like the way I can make my own song suggestions and he’ll work out the music and teach me to play the songs that I want to learn. I would definitely recommend him!” - Eva T
“I am 66 years of age, didn't know what to expect and picked, what I know now,, is a very tricky instrument in the Guitar. Jeremy is kind and patient and I never leave feeling like I haven't achieved anything. If I want too focus on one thing, Jeremy is happy to oblige. If I want my head filled with theory, chords and scales, I walk out with exactly that.
On top of learning some songs, and loads of chords, I have begun jamming using just a few notes of the pentatonic scale and it is very, very satisfying. Thank you Jeremy
You are now stuck with me.” - Amanda T
