ADULT GUITAR LESSONS
Learning guitar as an adult is a rewarding way to develop a new skill, challenge yourself creatively, and enjoy making music. Whether you've always wanted to learn, are returning to the instrument after many years, or are simply looking for a fulfilling hobby, lessons are tailored to your individual interests, goals and experience.
Jeremy has over 12 years' experience teaching music and holds a Bachelor of Contemporary Music from the Victorian College of the Arts. As a professional performing and recording musician, he combines broad musical knowledge with a relaxed, encouraging and personalised teaching approach.
Lessons are designed to fit around adult life. Whether you have plenty of time to practise or can only fit in a few minutes each week, Jeremy works with you to set realistic goals and help you make steady progress while keeping the process enjoyable and rewarding.
Some students want to learn their favourite songs, accompany themselves while singing, develop confidence with chords and rhythm, or simply enjoy the challenge of learning a new instrument. Others are returning to music after years away. Lessons are practical, flexible and shaped around what you want to achieve, without the pressure of a fixed curriculum unless that's something you specifically want.
Learning guitar as an adult can provide a creative outlet away from the demands of work and everyday life. Whether your goal is personal enjoyment, building confidence as a guitarist, or developing a broader understanding of music, lessons provide a supportive environment in which to continue growing as a musician.

Groups (2 or 3 students)
30 mins - $33 per student || 45 minutes - $46 per student || 1 hour - $56 per student

Absolutely! Many adult students begin lessons with no previous musical experience at all. Lessons start from wherever you're at and progress at a pace that feels comfortable, with no expectation that you already know how to play or read music. Whether your goal is to learn your favourite songs, accompany yourself while singing, or simply enjoy a new hobby, lessons are tailored to suit your interests and experience.

Lessons can be tailored to the music you enjoy listening to. Whether you're interested in rock, pop, indie, folk, blues or acoustic guitar, we'll use songs you enjoy as the basis for developing your technique, confidence and overall musicianship. If there's a particular artist or style you'd like to learn, I'll always do my best to incorporate it into your lessons.

No. Many students begin by learning chords, strumming patterns and songs they enjoy without reading traditional music notation. If you'd like to learn to read music or tablature, that can certainly be incorporated into lessons, but it isn't a requirement to get started.

Lessons are available in 30, 45 and 60 minute formats. While 30-minute lessons can be a good option for some adults, I generally recommend 45 or 60 minutes, as this gives us more time to explore new material, work on songs and build your skills without feeling rushed. I'm happy to help you choose the lesson length that best suits your goals, schedule and budget.

Yes. Having your own guitar gives you the opportunity to practise between lessons and make steady progress. If you're not sure what to buy, I'm happy to recommend some beginner-friendly options to suit your budget. For most new students, an entry-level nylon string acoustic guitar is a great place to start and can be found for under $150 at many music stores.
